INTERNATIONAL TRADE WITH
​          KENYA

 Brief Economic Outlook : 
           Kenya is an Eastern African country with a population over 47 million people by 2019 census report. The country is bordered in the Northeast  by Sudan, Ethiopia in the North; Somalia in the East; Uganda to the West; Tanzania to the South; and the Indian Ocean to the Southeast. The official languages are English and Swahili, with other locally spoken dialects by different ethnic groups. Kenya's main capital and largest city is Nairobi, while its oldest and first capital is the coastal city of Mombasa.
         The country's economy is the largest in Eastern and Central Africa, with Nairobi serving as a major regional commercial hub.  The currency is kenyan shillings (KES), which  is used for daily market transactions. Foreign exchange are readily available in local Banks for large scale business transactions. Agriculture is the largest sector, with Tea and Coffee as the traditional cash crops. Fresh flowers are becoming a fast-growing export products.  The service industry such as Tourism is also  a major economic driver. The main tourist attraction are 60 National Parks and Game Reserves, which provide  source of Foreign Exchange.  
         Kenya is a member of the East African Community trade bloc, which is a stable economic environment conducive for international business transactions.  There are no restrictive government regulations against profits repatriation.



Export Market Potential

         Kenya is among the beneficiaries of the United States's African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which has given a major boost to manufacturing infrastructures. The country's annually global import expenditure is over USD $15 billion, and the United States accounts for over USD $500 million share of the import market. ​ Goods and Service export market potential to Kenya, include but are not limited to:
 .   Aircraft and Spare Parts ....$105 million.        Industrial Machinery........$45 million
 .   Plastic Products  ....... $40 million         Electrical Machinery.....$32 million
 .   Agricultural Grains .... $30 million                Transportation     ........   $50 million

​United States imports mostly Tea, Coffee, Vegetable Oil, and woven apparels  from Kenya with an annual expenditure of about $325 million. The  country's government is stable and business profits can be repatriated without  encountering any difficulties.
